Every first Wednesday of the month, Dutch Game Garden hosts a free networking lunch for the Dutch game industry in Utrecht. It is an opportunity for creative professionals, teachers, project leaders, future interns, students, potential clients, and others interested in the industry to meet, mingle and share their projects and questions.

Dutch Game Garden can provide an office desk with a screen and power sockets or an INDIGO Cabinet, but please note that you need to bring your own laptop and mouse/keyboard/controllers.

Let’s face it, the games industry is going through some pretty rough times. Studio closings and rounds of lay-offs are now a common practice globally. And unfortunately, the Netherlands is no exception to this trend.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. Many game companies are actually thriving and wondering on how to best grow and seize all the opportunities. New studios are still being founded all the time. And although being more critical, investors are still funding studios to help grow their game project or whole company. The industry always went through waves, the next (investment) boom might be just around the corner, so better be ready for it…!

Upon frequent request from our members, the Dutch Games Association is therefore organizing a DGA Talks about growing and professionalising your game studio.

From Monday April 15 to Friday April 19 2024 Breda University of Applied Sciences will host the Everything Procedural Conference for a variety of lectures, talks, demonstrations and masterclasses in the field of procedural content generation for games on our beautiful campus. The event offers many opportunities to meet and share knowledge with fellow developers.

The first Everything Procedural Conference took place in 2016. In the years since we have gained strong recognition as a leading conference in the field of procedural content for games.

STRATEGIES (Sustainable Transition for Europe’s Game Industries) is a Horizon Europe-funded project (2024-2028) that aims to ‘green’ the gaming industries and support them in changing players’ hearts and minds as well as contributing to sustainable transformations across other creative industries. On Wednesday morning, we will launch our anthology on Ecogames, which lays the foundation for the STRATEGIES consortium and core ideas. In the afternoon, STRATEGIES itself will be launched. 

The Reboot Develop conference is back in 2024 for it’s ninth edition.

It will feature more than 155+ speakers including a vast number of surprises within the speaker lineup, during 3 days in 9 parallel tracks/stages while also hosting within the conference venue a truly big B2B expo and indie expo areas. Read more here.
