Peter Laanen has joined the Dutch Game Garden board. With his accession, Dutch Game Garden’s business network in Europe and the United States will be strengthened substantially.
Peter Laanen has extensive business acumen in the Netherlands and abroad. He started out as a programmer in the late ‘60s and involved with distribution of goods for the American Army for US soldiers stationed in Europe. Peter successfully founded Multi Function Computers in 1976, which launched an IPO in 1986 on the Dutch stock market. He is a co-founder of the Ex’pression College for Digital Arts in Emeryville, California. In 2007, Peter became the International Trade Director at the Netherlands Business Support Office, where he facilitated partnerships between Dutch and American tech companies. Due to his innovative work in the United States and Europe in 2005, Peter became a permanent American resident thanks to the ‘’Alien of Extraordinary Abilities program’.
In 2012, Peter was introduced into the Dutch American Hall of Fame. In 2014 the California State Senate honored him with a Resolution for ‘the development and promotion of trade relations between California and the Kingdom of the Netherlands including investment facilitation and his valuable civil leadership’. Peter currently supports European companies in making a ‘soft landing’ in Silicon Valley, focusing on the development of entrepreneurial fundamentals and making the most of opportunities and challenges.
The Dutch Game Garden board is comprised of Peter Laanen, Maarten Brands (chairman), and Arthur van Breukelen (treasurer). Peter Laanen voegt zich per direct bij het bestuur van Dutch Game Garden. Met zijn toetreding wordt het zakelijk netwerk van Dutch Game Garden in zowel Europa als Amerika aanzienlijk versterkt.
Peter Laanen heeft jarenlange ervaring met zakendoen in binnen- en buitenland. In 2007 werd Peter International Trade Director bij de Netherlands Business Support Office, waar hij partnerships faciliteerde tussen Nederlandse en Amerikaanse techbedrijven. In 2005 werd Peter Permanent Resident in de Verenigde Staten dankzij ‘alien of extraordinary abilities’ voor zijn innovatieve werk in Amerika en Europa.
In 2012 werd hij opgenomen in de Dutch American Hall of Fame en in 2014 eerde de Senaat van Californie hem met een Resolution voor: “Het ontwikkelen en bevorderen van handelsbetrekkingen tussen de Staat Californie en het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden, waaronder ook het faciliteren van investeringen, alsmede zijn waardevolle civiele leiderschap”. Tegenwoordig helpt Peter met zijn bedrijf Laanen the Brand Europese bedrijven met een ‘soft landing’ in Silicon Valley door ze alles te leren over ondernemerschap, kansen en uitdagingen.
Het bestuur van Dutch Game Garden bestaat naast Peter Laanen uit voorzitter Maarten Brands en penningmeester Arthur van Breukelen. Maarten Brands: “Wij zijn zeer verheugd dat Peter Laanen toetreedt tot het bestuur van Dutch Game Garden. Vanuit Californië heeft Peter de afgelopen jaren de Nederlandse gamesindustrie ondersteund, in het bijzonder tijdens de Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, het belangrijkste evenement voor game-ontwikkelaars wereldwijd. Zo heeft hij in 2013 gezorgd voor de INDIGO Showcase in het Nederlandse consulaat, waar meer dan dertig games uit Nederland werden getoond aan een internationaal publiek van pers, uitgevers en andere industrieprofessionals. Met de ervaring van Peter kan Dutch Game Garden zich nog sterker inzetten voor ondernemerschap in de gamesindustrie.”
