An illuminating talk by Dutch Game Garden’s development director JP van Seventer about the people needed to form a game company and keeping expectations and personal budget in sync with reality. When starting a company as a young team, be prepared for your personal expenses to rise considerably over the years, as you slowly part with your student lifestyle and embrace adult life (spouse, kids, dog, holidays, mortgage).

How will you manage your company then? Will you still design games or will you have shifted to a managing position? Or do you hire someone to do that for you? Long-term planning, it’s coming your way.

This masterclass was recorded at Game in the City 2012 in Amersfoort, The Netherlands.
