Control is the trade magazine for the Dutch games industry. Control also publishes the international game development website Control500 and the Control500 print edition that is distributed at GDC, GDC Europe and Gamescom. Furthermore, Control runs Gamejobs.eu, a website with job openings, and organizes Control Conference, a yearly conference on game development.

For years, Microsoft has been providing tools for serious game developers with its products. Irrespectively of which platform a game is published on, chances are that at least one piece of Microsoft software has been used. As an international accounting and tax advisory firm PwC helps companies all over the world with a variety of services, ranging from tax advisory and juridical services to automation processes. Additionally, PwC also publishes reports about various industries (amongst which the games industry).

Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht

HKU offers various game programs, including Game Design and Development, and Interactive Performance Design.

 

Universiteit Utrecht

Utrecht University (founded in 1636) has more than 30,000 students. The university consistently scores high on several indices that measure teaching and research quality. The program Game Technology is the only technical Bachelor’s program in the Netherlands on academic level that mainly focuses on games.

 

Grafisch Lyceum Utrecht

Grafisch Lyceum Utrecht is a leading educator in graphic media and a professional educational institute with an eye for social change and development. The GLU offers two programs for future game designers: Game Artist and Game Developer.

 

International Game Architecture & Design (NHTV), Breda

NHTV is an international university of applied sciences which initially focused on tourism and recreation. Today it is a large educational institution with an important game component, found in the program International Game Architecture & Design. This is an English-taught program with a practical approach.

 

Hogeschool van Amsterdam

The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences is an important institution for higher education in the capital of the Netherlands. The program Game Development is a study track of the Computer Science program, in which the focus is on the technical or programming side of game design.

 

NHL Hogeschool

The NHL in Leeuwarden is one of the leading higher education institutions in the north of the Netherlands. The program Communication and Multimedia Design trains students to become versatile professionals in the field of games, interaction, communication, and advertising.

 

Saxion Hogeschool Enschede

With the program Game Design & Production, the Saxion University of Applied Sciences is an important link for the games industry in the east of the country. The program combines technology, creativity, innovation, and human sciences together. It is part of the course Creative Media & Game Technologies.

 

Dutch Game Music

DutchGameMusic is an initiative of knowledge institutions, agencies, and companies operating in the Dutch games and music industries. DutchGameMusic aims to make the music in games – and its creators – more visible and to create an overview of the Dutch game music climate.

 

Zo-ii (Zuraida Buter)

Zo-ii (Zuraida Buter) organizes meetings, game jams, workshops, and exhibitions that involve games and play. Her main objective is to promote creativity and collaboration among game developers and other creatives at an international level.

 

Nordic Game

Respawn Gathering

The basic thought behind RESPAWN is to create a relaxed and unconstrained forum where game developers, trade visitors and students can connect and exchange ideas. This innovative conference and networking concept was welcomed enthusiastically by more than 500 visitors at its premiere in 2013. Rather than confining speakers and their audiences to closed rooms, the presentations are held on lecture platforms spread out across the venue.
