We’re delighted to share that 25 new Dutch and Belgian games will be part of the DISCOVER showcase during INDIGO 2021. The showcase games will be played by 5 streamers with several entertainment breaks and can be accessed free of charge on Twitch and the INDIGO website.

The INDIGO event annually attracts more than a thousand international game industry professionals to play new games, network, or participate in the conference program. This year INDIGO is online (again) due to the pandemic, but with precautions and current regulations, the organization can offer a physical component of the event for its showcase developers, streamers, speakers, and media. They are all expected at the Dotslash location in Utrecht.

The showcase contains 25 games from the Netherlands and Belgium. A restriction on the submissions to guarantee that developers could be physically present during the stream and at the award ceremony. There is a wide variety of genres and styles among the selected games, containing narrative-driven games, couch co-op games, platformers, point and click, strategy games, and shooters. The entire selection can be viewed on the INDIGO website. This year, the DISCOVER showcase welcomes 6 student projects from BUAS, HKU, and TU Delft.

Streamers GlitchKraftTeamWALLShannaNinaNL, and Rami Ismail will be playing the showcase games on June 25th and will invite developers to join in on the live stream and answer questions from the audience. While attendees may not be able to play the games themselves, players and publishers can quickly come into contact with new titles and the developers behind them. The DISCOVER program will also include several entertainment breaks. For example, a game that’s played with live music, a painting done completely in VR and there is a segment in the program in which experimental games are shown.

For INDIGO, we will be working together with ZIVA-events, our game event, and technology partner to build 3 studios on the location to accommodate the conference and showcase with high-quality lighting, audio, and sound. For the TALKS conference, we want to have as many speakers as possible in the studio to create the best conference experience for the attendees and the speakers. Dutch Game Garden started in 2019 with a conference program for INDIGO in which 6 speakers participated, For INDIGO 2021, the TALKS conference has extensive development and a business track featuring 38 speakers, mostly from Dutch soil. The program can be viewed on the website.

At the end of the day, Dutch Game Garden hands over the INDIGO Award. The prize will be awarded to one of the showcase games by a jury. In 2020 Dreamscaper from Afterburner Studios took home the award.

The DISCOVER showcase on June 25th is free to attend and can be seen on Twitch and the website. Those interested in the conference or matchmaking program can get a ticket via the website.
