De laatste jaren heeft een sterke ontwikkeling plaatsgevonden in de toepassing van games voor andere primaire doeleinden dan vermaak. Smart Experience Actuator (SEA) past uitstekend in deze trend van ‘applied’ games. Toen het project werd ontwikkeld, waren de eerste zorggames in aantocht. Maar de initiatiefnemers zagen juist ook kansen in domeinen waar op dat moment nog weinig gebeurde. De SEA wil daar verandering in brengen, om te vernieuwen en om jongere doelgroepen aan te spreken, bijvoorbeeld.

Smart Experience Actuator (SEA) project is a collaborative effort on applying games in the sectors of heritage, tourism and retail. The resulta have been gathered in the publication found below. In this book we would like to share the insights and experiences that were gained developing the project’s seven pilots.
Over the past few years we have seen a strong advancement in the application of games with other primary aims than amusement. SEA fits in perfectly with this ‘applied’ games trend. When the project was developed, the first healthcare games were on their way. The initiators, however, also saw opportunities for domains in which up to that point not much was going on. In heritage, tourism and retail as much as other sectors, was their principle, opportunities were there for the taking: innovating and reaching out to a younger target audience, for instance.
