There will be another special guest visiting Dutch Game Garden. This time it\’s Mike Dailly, Head of Development at YoYo Games. Dailly, from Dundee (Scotland), is a veteran of the games industry and is responsible for hits like Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto. During his talk with us, he looks back on his career so far, and he talks about the possibilities that YoYo Games\’ Game Maker platform offers.
We\’ll start at 3:00 PM. Mike and his colleague Russell Kay (Medal of Honor, Myst, Lemmings) are going to talk about YoYo Games, Game Maker and their shared past with DMA Design, where they created classics like Lemmings and GTA. There will be plenty of room for questions and discussion. After the talk we\’re heading outside for a drink (so at your own expense).
Mike Dailly is head of development at YoYo Games where he oversees the development and evolution of GameMaker: Studio.
Mike was head of research and development at Visual Science where for two years he focused on rendering technologies and optimisation and developed an affordable in-house PlayStation developer kit, before writing the XBOX graphics engine for F1 2001 for Electronic Arts.
Mike launched his career in video games as co-founder at DMA Design (now Rockstar North) where he spent almost 10 years. While there, his work inspired some of the most iconic games of our time, including the “Lemmings” trilogy and the “Grand Theft Auto” series. As well as working on other notable DMA games like “Uniracers”, “Wild Metal Country” and “Tanktics”, he also helped write the company’s 3D rendering technology.
