Generally, we know games to be entertaining and challenging, but in truth they can also carry restrictive or stigmatising messages. Playing Architecture is curated by Mélanie van der Hoorn, a cultural anthropologist, and designed by Dafne Wiegers (AHH), architect. The exhibition invites you to play, wonder and critically reflect on the nature and role of architecture games, with a wide array of Amsterdam-related examples.
The exhibition will be on display at Arcam from December 10 until May 28, 2023.

Galaxy Grove is hosting an Unreal Engine get-together on April 12 at Dutch Game Garden. The get-together will be from 19.00 until 21.00 and the program consists of a talk that lasts half an hour, and an hour and a half of socializing and networking. Galaxy Grove has secured an interesting speaker who is prepared to share their insider games industry knowledge.
The speaker is Joost van Dongen. Joost has 15 years of industry experience and is one of the co-founders of Ronimo games (Awesomenauts, Swords & Soldiers, and more), where he was lead programmer, producer, and CEO before he started Galaxy Grove. He also created Robo Maestro, Cello Fortress, and Proun as a solo developer. Joost has won a Dutch Design Award and 6 Dutch Game Awards for his work. He will give us insight into how he made his recently released procedural music toy Robo Maestro.
