Last Friday, the Dutch Game Awards announced their 44 nominees in 14 categories. The biggest contender this year is Horizon Zero Dawn, the PS4 game made by Guerrilla. For the first time this year there will be a Virtual Reality category. VR Games do well outside this category as well, with 10 nominations for the other categories. Four companies related to Dutch Game Garden got nominations, as well as six games showcased at our INDIGO event. 

The VR-game The Red Stare by Play:D, that was showcased at INDIGO 2017, got three nominations. The INDIGO games RIVE: Wreck, Hack, Die, Retry!, Arizona Sunshine and Defend Your Friend got nominated as well.

Thinkfast Studio, part of our incubation program, made Cublast HD. This game has been nominated two times. Bolt Storm by Kuality Games, also part of our incubation program, got a nomination in the ‘Best Student Technical Achievement’ category. Ludomotion, another company located in Dutch Game Garden, got nominations for their game Unexplored. The Automatician by DreamPunks, located in Dutch Game Garden Breda, got nominated for ‘Best Student Art Direction’.

VilDu?! a cooperation project by Lapp, de Rading, YipYip and Fontys ICT is a serious game that allows children who were sexually abused to talk about their experiences by helping to make conversation about it easier. It is nominated for ‘Best Serious Game’ and ‘Best Co-Production’.

This year there will also be a Public Award in collaboration with Gamekings. Through their website you can vote for your favorite Dutch game. Herald, an interactive period drama by Wispfire, located in Dutch Game Garden, has also been nominated for this prize. Hidden Folks, playable at INDIGO, by Adriaan de Jongh and Sylvain Tegroeg also got nominated for the Public Award.
